The State Museum of Lazaro Galdiano is one of the most interesting and popular museums in the world and, obviously, the most beloved museum of the people of Madrid. Here are collected the works of such great Spanish masters as Francisco Goya, Jerome Bosch, Francisco Zurbaran, El Greco, Murillo, Velazquez, as well as works by famous artists of the English school: Thomas Gainsborough, John Constable, Joshua Reynolds, George Romney and many other authors.

The founder of the museum is the famous Spanish publisher, philanthropist and collector Jose Lazaro Galdiano. The Italian-style palace of the early 20th century, in which the museum is located, was once the personal residence of Lazaro Galdiano. He donated to the Spanish government, just before his death, in 1948, a large collection of books (more than 20,000 volumes) and works of art (more than 12,600 copies). The Lazaro Galdiano Foundation, created with the goal of preparing, classifying and preserving heritage, operates the museum today. A special place in the museum's collection is occupied by paintings, prints and drawings by Francisco Goya, which are world heritage.

Among the many paintings, the museum demonstrates the works of Mateo Cereso, Claudio Coelho, Eugenio Lucas, Zacarias González Velazquez, Augustine Esteva, Vicente Lopez Portan and Juan Martin Cabezalero.

The expositions of the Lazaro Galdiano Museum also feature magnificent examples of decorative and applied art: church utensils, jewelry, precious goblets, antique enamel, armor of the Spanish knights, medals, coins, ivory.

The museum unites 20 exhibition halls, 2 bookrooms, 4 exhibition rooms and even a store. The halls of the museum are divided by themes and display Spanish art from the 15th to the 19th centuries, Italian painting from the 15th to the 19th centuries, Flemish and German painting from the 15th to the 18th centuries, and the English school of the 17th-18th centuries. and a French school from the 13th to the 20th centuries. A separate room is dedicated to Francisco de Goye and his contemporaries.

Cabinet No. 1 presents a collection of sculptures, medals and coins. Cabinet No. 2 has a collection of unique wood sculptures. In office number 3, a showcase with Chinese porcelain, vases, dishes is presented. In office No. 4 there is an exhibition of a collection of fabrics, a store is located behind it, then there are reading rooms No. 1 and No. 2, and the tour ends with an open class, where visitors are surrounded by medieval warrior figures in expensive armor.

The Museum of Jose Lazaro Galdiano, in addition to permanent exhibitions, also organizes temporary exhibitions showing unique exhibits of collections in the New World.
